How to choose the church projector?
You don’t need to worry about “How to choose the best projector for your church”.
It’s not a tough job. There are five parameters to choosing your church projector.
With my own experience, I will tell you about every parameter one by one.
Brightness.
There are two kinds of churches right now. One is old and another is modern.
Old churches have natural ambient light, which can’t be controlled. And modern churches have modern sanctuaries and halls.
Where people use lights that can be controlled.
So for both places, lumens can be different. Are you getting confused? don’t be confused. There is a standard number of lumens. You can go with them.
You can go with a number of people. For 100 to 150 people, 5,000 lumens is enough.
Over 250 people with 6,000 lumens will perform better. And for small meetings 2,000 to 4,000 lumens is best, work better in dim light.
And for the last. You don’t get which lumens fit you. Then chose lumens according to the screen size.
- 6 feet wide: 2500 to 3000 lumens.
- 8 feet wide: 3000 to 4500 lumens.
- 12 feet wide: 4500 to 5000 lumens.
I hope these two ways will help you to find the best lumens for you.
Screen Size
Screen size and viewing. Both things can vary with churches. Because every church has its size and people capacity.
For the small churches, I will prefer the 120 inches screen. And for the big churches, 150 inches is good. If you want to go further, 200 inches is best.
For the viewing distance, I am providing you the graph, for better understanding.

Contrast Ratio.
In the church, the projector contrast ratio doesn’t matter that much. Why?
Because the contrast ratio matters a lot. For the movie projector, which people use in their homes for entertainment.
So you can go with the average contrast ratio, for the church projector.
Installation Options.
There are two installation options available for the projector in church. You can mount your projector to the ceiling or put it near your projector screen.
Now, that you know the option of installation which is perfect for your church let me know in the comment section.
Keystone correction and Lens Shift.
Keystone correction is a feature in the digital projector. This feature allows you to adjust the corner of the screen. But this feature affects the image quality.
Lens shift is the manual process in which you have to adjust the projector screen size manually. It does not affect the image quality that much.
Now, you know about both keystone correction and lens shift. It’s up to you are going to choose.
